GAVI Alliance 2010 Progress Report highlights momentum

Marking the end of GAVI’s first decade, the 2010 Progress Report shows how unprecedented demand, accelerated access to vaccines and strong country ownership have helped save millions of lives

By the end of 2010, over 5 million future deaths had been prevented and over 288 million additional children had been immunised with support from GAVI and its partners. With sufficient funding GAVI can address the main childhood killers, pneumonia and diarrhoea, as well as other diseases that place a huge burden on developing countries, and prevent another 3.9 million future deaths by 2015.

For more detail, including a summary of GAVI’s new strategy and business plan, success stories, facts and figures, country information and an overview of how the GAVI Alliance is governed, download the full report (PDF - 4.7MB).
Separate graphics of the 'key indicators' - measuring GAVI's progress against its four strategic goals - can also be downloaded individually at the bottom of the page.

Fighting pneumonia

The GAVI Alliance and its partners are dedicated to increasing access to suitable vaccines for children in the developing world. A new vaccine to prevent pneumococcal disease among children is being introduced across the developing world. By 2015, The GAVI Alliance plans to vaccinate 90 million children in more than 40 countries, so that all children can get the best possible start in life.
